In the summer of 2019 Greg and Saša worked concurrently on two areas of wall painting.  Saša worked with two assistant conservators to explore the original decoration of the frieze in the main hall.  Previous paint cross sections had indicated there was an early scheme under various layers of overpaint and Historic Royal Palaces wanted to investigate the form and extent of the surviving design.  Using scalpels, solvents and patience they uncovered sections of the original 1630’s decoration of festoons, ribbons and a mask.   Greg worked on documenting and treating a 1920’s wall decoration in the Wolseley Room in the north annex.  Greg did the project management and wrote two detailed reports on the findings.
