Sasa and Greg worked on a project for Historic Royal Palaces to investigate the original painted decoration of the coffered ceiling surrounding the large paintings by Peter Paul Rubens in the Banqueting House, Whitehall. The ceiling is an original part of the Inigo Jones building finished in 1622. The work involved using scalpels to methodically remove layers of paint producing stepped windows that clearly illustrate the various historical schemes. We worked in cooperation with Richard Ireland, a specialist in historic ceilings and decoration. The site work lasted from February until mid April 2018.
